So what exactly is flex or iron-on vinyl?
For printing on textiles, there is nothing better than using Flex (2 types).
- Flex CAD (Computer Aided Cutting), single colour and cuttable with a plotter
- PRINTABLE flex for use with printing and cutting plotters
These films are available as rolls and can be used to customise clothing and accessories. Once the design is cut and printed, it can then be applied with a heat press. Our Flex range is designed for substrates such as cotton, polyester, as well as SPEEDCUT and BRICKCUT which can also be applied to acrylic fabrics.
The printable Flex offering is also made up of products such as UFLEX7PV2, UFLEX5S, SILKPRINT and the forthcoming film: SLIMPRINT. For technical substrates such as nylon, NYLCUT in the cuttable version and the NYLPRINT, in printable version, will allow the production of such markings. For the production of markings on sublimated fabrics (softshell, sublimated jerseys), the range includes BLOCKCUT in the cuttable version and BLOCKPRINT in printable version.
A legitimate question may come to mind when you hear about iron-on films on textiles: Is this customisation with iron-on FLEX resistant to laundering?
- Thermo-adhesive FLEX washable at 30°
– METALCUT – Non-adhesive iron-on cutting flex with a gloss chrome effect
– NYLCUT – Chest-pocket logos and large graphics, low press time (5 seconds at 150°C)
– NYLPRINT – Silky and quick to transfer printable flex
- Thermo-adhesive FLEX washable at 40°
– FLOCK200 – Slightly embossed velvet effect (sports shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts etc.)
– GLITFLEX – Soft and relief glitter for non-sublimated textiles
– BLOCKCUT & BLOCKPRINT – Will reveal their full potential by avoiding the bleed-through of the sublimated fabric onto the transferred graphic.
Finally, UFLEXCLEAR features a non-adhesive, ultra-clear liner that is perfect for transferring onto light coloured fabrics. With its mirror print, it does not require a tape.
- Thermo-adhesive FLEX washable at 60° and 80°
– SPEEDCUT – 5 seconds of pressing at 130°C
– BRICKCUT – 3D effect on the marking
– SILKPRINT
→ These 3 Flexes are perfect for logos and large graphics
– GLOWCUT – Photoluminescent effect
– REFLEX – Ideal for Industrial Protective Equipment (IPE) with precise high visibility marking – This product meets the requirements of EN ISO 20471.
UFLEX7PV2 is ideal for cotton and polyester fabrics and is a non-adhesive liner designed for cut and print graphics in print. Its print quality, ease of use (with or without tape) and washability make it the best seller in the printable range.
Our forthcoming SLIMPRINT, the latest addition to the printable range, is an ultra-flexible, thin Flex that allows for large logos and laundry up to 60°C.
As for UFLEX5S, it is widely used for small lettering, chest pocket logos or sponsorship logos (5 seconds at 130°C). Its laundry resistance at 60°C makes it a major asset for optimising production and processing time.
If you wish to optimise your weeding time and obtain an optimum durability for your production of markings on work clothes or other materials requiring a fairly high laundry resistance (only Flex washable at 80°C), our COLORCUT is available in 37 colours. Its hot peeling ability and its 80°C resistance are the two essential assets for the production of your markings.
- Which tape to use on printable Flex?
It is important to note that when using a printable Flex, it is absolutely necessary to use a tape that will allow you to remove your logos from the polyester backing of the Flex and then apply it to the textile.
HEXIS supplies 3 different tapes for its printable Flex range, namely:
- HEX860 – 50-micron tape reusable for UFLEX7PV2 / UFLEX5S / SLIMPRINT / SILKPRINT / NYLPRINT
- HEX960 – 100-micron tape reusable pou UFLEX7PV2 / UFLEX5S / SLIMPRINT / SILKPRINT / NYLPRINT
- HEX750 – 100-micron tape for BLOCKPRINT
After applying a Flex, it is necessary to wait at least 24 hours before machine washing the textile. Before starting further processing, it is necessary to contact your sales contact and/or refer to the product data sheet. You now know everything about TEXIS iron-on adhesive flex films by HEXIS.
